Engineered Lining Systems
Project
Stormwater Catch Basin Rehabilitation.
Location
Jacksonville, Florida
Description
Stormwater catch basin has cracks and crevices allowing infiltration of soil and erosion of the surrounding ground.
Originally buried underground, the 30" incoming pipe has been uncovered from excessive soil erosion. This structure
was posing a problem, especially due to it's proximity to an airplane runway.
Solution
The Poly-Triplex Liner System was installed and cured with hydrostatic head pressure by building a framework around the
openings so that they could be filled with water approximately 12 inches higher than the top of the structure. Monolithic
liner was bonded to the walls of the catch basin.
Benefit
The liner has completely stopped the infiltration of soil and erosion of the ground around the structure.
Photos
Left - Framework is being added to allow for hydrostatic head pressure for curing and catch basin is prepared for the
lining process.
Upper Right - Bladder is being inserted into each of the three sections.
Lower Right - Liner installation is complete and infiltration of surrounding soil is permanently stopped.
Comments
The Naval Air Station has used this Poly-Triplex System on numerous catch basin and manhole structures. Poly-Triplex has
provided them a 10 year materials and labor warranty to stop infiltration and deterioration in these structures.
